Our Passion for Aquatics
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been mesmerized by the underwater world. I used to lose hours peering into the glass of aquariums, completely absorbed by the colors and movement of the fish, and the silent beauty of aquatic plants. This fascination didn’t diminish with time, it only grew stronger, leading me to delve deeper into the realm of aquatics, expanding my knowledge, and honing my skills.
The desire to recreate a slice of this underwater world in my own living space led me to specialize in nano aquarium setups. As an experienced and passionate aquarium enthusiast, my work in freshwater fish, plants, and nano aquarium environments became an extension of my passion, my art form. The ability to design and maintain these compact, thriving ecosystems, pairing the right species of fish with the perfect aquatic plants, has been an immensely rewarding journey.
It’s a challenge that involves understanding various aspects from water parameters to the specific requirements of different fish and plants, to the intricacies of lighting and filtration. But, every challenge conquered, every vibrant and thriving setup, only amplifies my passion for this field.
What excites me the most, though, is the prospect of sharing this passion with you. Through the comprehensive guides and advice available on this platform, I aim to share valuable insights that I’ve gathered over the years. I want to empower you to create your own stunning nano aquarium setups, to understand and appreciate the profound beauty and subtle complexities of these aquatic ecosystems.
I believe that with the right guidance and tools, everyone can experience the joy of crafting their own thriving aquatic world, and through this website, I am committed to helping you achieve just that. So, join me in this exciting journey, and together, let’s dive into the amazing world of aquatics.

Why we started Fluvico?
Hi, I’m Charlie. You probably recognise me as the guy behind many of the Fish & Plant care guides here on the Fluvico website. I’ve been a fish keeping and aquarium hobbyist since the 80’s. I simply love aquariums and fish keeping with the highlight of my day being feeding time.
Since I’ve been spending so much time aquascaping and planting my aquariums recently, I thought why not share some of the advice that I’ve picked up over the years. What works, what doesn’t and how to make your aquarium thrive!
And quite honestly, I’m a little too shy for YouTube so I thought I’d write down my plant & fish guides instead.
Do you own every fish that you write about?
Whilst I do have far too many tanks, it drives my wife crazy, I couldn’t possibly keep every fish that I’ve ever written a care guide for. When writing guides, I’ll head down to my local aquarium and speak to the pros that work there. These guys are the experts and have such valuable information. To make the care guides it takes days of research, talking to owners & information collation. I hope that you enjoy the results and together we can update and improve these guides for everyone.
Are we looking for guest writers at Fluvico?
If you’re an expert fish keeper that’s own a fish or plant we haven’t already written a guide for, then we’d love to hear from you. You can send us a message on our contact page, and tell us about the plant or fish you’re an expert on.
If we already have a guide, but you have some unique and useful information, then we’d love it if you left us a comment. That we can update our guide to be the most helpful and relevant for anyone reading.
What’s your favourite fish?
I’m currently absolutely fascinated by Bichir Fish, I can watch these little dudes move around my aquarium all day long. The way they use their front fins to balance on rocks, their dragon-like appearance and their docile nature makes them an awesome creature to have the privilege of caring for.
Where are Fluvico based?
Currently the bulk of our articles are written by myself and Daniel. We both have showcase tanks in our living rooms plus 4-5 more tanks dotted around the house. I live in the suburbs of South Manchester while Daniel is based in Central London.
Since the success of Fluvico.com, we have have a small office in Manchester.
If you want to get in touch with myself or Daniel? You can contact us here.
